Getting Your AI API Keys

Step-by-step guides for obtaining API keys from major AI providers

Why Do I Need an API Key?

AI Assess Tech tests your AI system by sending ethical questions and analyzing the responses. To do this, we need to communicate with your AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) using their API.

Your API key stays private. It never leaves your environment. When using our SDK or the demo tool, your key is used client-side to call the AI provider directly. We only receive the AI's responses for scoring.

Privacy Guarantee: Your API keys, system prompts, and configuration never touch our servers. Only the AI's answers to our ethical questions are sent for scoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will this cost me?

A typical AI Health Check assessment uses about 120 questions. With GPT-4o-mini, this costs approximately $0.01-0.03 per assessment. Claude Haiku and Gemini Pro are similarly affordable. Most providers offer free credits that cover multiple assessments.

Is my API key safe?

Yes. Your API key is used client-side (in your browser or your server) to call the AI provider directly. We never see, store, or transmit your API key. Only the AI's responses are sent to our servers for scoring.

Can I use my existing API key?

Absolutely! If you already have an API key from any of these providers, you can use it immediately. Just make sure it has sufficient credits or billing enabled.

What if I don't want to create an API key?

We understand! You can view our sample assessment results to see what the output looks like without running a live assessment. For enterprise customers, we also offer managed assessments — contact us to learn more.
